About the Founder

  • My name is Ivy and I am That Girl.
  • I am that girl who knew nothing about periods apart from what was in the syllabus. I amthat girl who grew up in fear of spotting on her dress, during her periods and could not talk about it because periods was a ‘taboo’ topic.I am that girl who came from a family that could not afford pads and had to choose food over pads. I am that girl who had to use one pad for a whole day because I knew after that packet, another one wasn’t coming. I am that girl who hated periods and wondered why they had to come every month, I am that girl who had zero information on period management let alone Menstrual Hygiene.
And now I am that girl who has made a personal commitment to myself and to my community, to ensure that no other girl will ever lack pads or fear spotting on her dress for fear of stigmatization and no boy will ever laugh at a girl who has blood stains on herdress. Because it’s just periods and periods are Normal.Join me, keep our girls in school and reaffirm them that spotting is nothing to be ashamed of. My one packet of pads and yours makes this possible. Come let us End Period Poverty and stigmatization.#usikueMSHY
